Situation:
As part of an effort to provide a more reliable electric power source to the community, United Illuminating selected BOND as its civil contractor to perform several upgrades to its East Shore Substation. BOND was hired to install new foundations and make various modifications to the existing foundation, to support the new substation’s equipment. The project team worked closely with the program manager, United Illuminating, and other contractors, to coordinate this work around prescheduled time-sensitive outages. In addition to the foundation work, a new cable trench was excavated and dewatering of the site which involved acute tracking for environmental hazards. BOND worked diligently with all project team members to ensure a safe and hazard-free workplace while working in the live substation
