Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Situation:

When looking for their partner-of-choice for a three-year service contract in the Boston area, National Grid chose BOND to support their ongoing gas distribution expansion in the region. BOND’s decades-long working relationship with National Grid and extensive experience enhancing natural gas infrastructure in the Northeast were key factors in this contract award. Crews installed new mains and services in challenging areas of the city, and assisted in upgrading aging infrastructure.

Challenges:

  • Work completed in highly-congested residential and commercial areas

  • Scheduling and sequencing of multiple service installations in an urban environment

Solutions:

  • Utilization of BIM360 Field to track progress, upload photo documentation, and maximize quality control
  • Robust crew training to maximize safety on site
  • Close coordination and detailed one-on-one communication with area residents to schedule service installation
  • Rigid management of crew workforce to ensure timely delivery

Results:

  • Successfully increased reliability of natural gas services throughout Boston
  • Minimal disruption to adjacent neighborhoods and communities
  • Relieved pressure to Boston’s natural gas infrastructure through delivery of additional services
